New signups are users who created an account during the date range, whether or not they placed an order.
New customers are those who both signed up and placed their first-ever order in that time frame.
This distinction helps you understand conversion rates from email collection or lead gen efforts to actual sales.
Where to find it
- Go to Analytics > Executive Summary > Acquisition.
- You’ll see New Signups and New Customers listed separately in both the chart and metric table.
Tip
If new signups are high but new customers are low, it might be time to improve your welcome flow or first-purchase incentive.
